At the request of a fan from years ago, I have added our "Dear Surfer" section back to the site, containing all the newsletters to our fans that we create during the blue number nine run. Back when we started this site, "Dear Surfer" referred to "Web Surfer, a term no long used in 2016 as you know! Enjoy this history of blue number nine. I miss playing, I miss everyone. Apologies for the clunky navigation, but I haven't worked on this site or any site since 2009 and lots has changed. To read them, you will have to navigate back to this page. I know it could be annoying, but I hope you enjoy this anyway.

Dear Surfer:
We had 2 shows this month, and once again, I personally had 5 shows of "MoM - A Rock Concert Musical" which was part of the Fringe Encore Series. THANK YOU to all of you who came, I really really appreciate it. The show was so much work for me -- really grueling -- and the support I received from those of you who came to see it really touched my heart. THANK YOU.
bn9 played Wicked Willy's again on the 25th from 9-11. Another fun time. We had Paul & Nadina on vocals, me, Marco, Jack and Minoru on the other instruments. There was a good crowd and they were dancing like mad by the end of our show. Unfortunately, the venue is all booked up through the end of the year - I checked with the owner after our show... tried to book another gig... he was ready to book us, but had no openings. Oh well. Maybe something will open up, which reminds me, I have to send him a text message!
On the 27th, we planned to leave at 6:15am for a show in Naples, NY (5 hours and change) for the Naples Grape Fest. We got a late start because one of the members got screwed up on the PATH train into NJ - the train didn't come! I nearly had a heart attack thinking we were going to be late, but Jack and Marco shared the driving and got us there with ample time. We had the same lineup as on the 25th, except that Paul was officiating a wedding, Morgan was out of town, Dara was also officiating a wedding and Chris had another show, so I reached out to Veronica Manning, one of bn9's original back up singers. She sang with the band when it very first started! This was a tough gig for her - we played for an hour and a half so she had a lot of singing and dancing to learn in a short amount of time, but she pulled it off. In fact, she did a GREAT job. I love road trips! Driving 10 hours in one day is a bit extreme - it would have been better to go up the night before, but Marco had a gig with another band. Anyway, the show was a lot of fun. When we arrived in Naples, it was pouring rain, but the sun came out after around 2 songs and people seemed to enjoy us. Afterwards, Minoru, Jack, Marco and I sampled some Finger Lakes wines in the wine tasting tent. A very fun time.
We have no gigs booked right now for the immediate future. It's almost time for us to start sending out kits for next season. That will start in October/November. I will try to get us back into Wicked Willy's in November and/or December, but touring is over for the year.
Our podcast is still on hiatus this month. We hope to get one more up for your listening pleasure at some point very soon. Podcasts are a lot of work, very time consuming, though we loved the end result. So there will be a new one up soon!
